Main purpose of job:
The post advertised is for a Trade and Investment Manager for Clean Growth based at the British Embassy in Manila, working primarily on trade promotion under the infrastructure team. The role will focus on the Clean Growth portfolio, particularly renewable energy and environmental sectors. Identifying and addressing sector relevant market issues will be part of the responsibilities. Sector responsibilities may evolve and change over time.The role reports directly to the Senior Trade Manager leading the infrastructure sector. The job holder will also provide support to the Country Director on inward investment from the Philippines to the UK, and to the Deputy Country Director on Critical Minerals under Environment.The role will provide support to UK companies who are already exporting to the Philippines, as well as draw in new exporters for market opportunities. The post holder is expected to possess project management skills to effectively plan and execute innovative trade promotion activities for identified relevant sectors. The post holder will also be required to attend official functions outside of office hours, and undertake occasional travel (international and domestic).The successful candidate will be joining a high-performing team and will engage with a diverse range of UK businesses and sector stakeholders in the public and private sector – locally, regionally and back in the UK. The post holder will deliver DBT initiatives in market and collaborate with regional colleagues part of APAC energy team.

There is no line management responsibilities for this role, but will be accountable for managing assigned resources (manpower and funds) for specific events, projects, and official travel.
The applicant should have a tertiary degree preferably related in business, economics, and international relations, and with at least 3-4 years relevant work experience (eg on international trade, business development, trade promotion, government, marketing, etc)

Working Patterns:
The role is primarily carried out during normal working hours (36 hours per week, 8:30am–5pm, Monday to Friday). There may be occasional requirements to work evenings or weekends, with additional hours recognised and managed in line with local Terms & Conditions.

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy Manila is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Philippine employment law.
