Main purpose of the role:
The British Government’s Consulate General in Los Angeles is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant to support our preparations for the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The British Consulate General in Los Angeles will play a central role in supporting Team GB and ParalympicsGB as the UK prepares for the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Working across government, sport, business, culture and diplomacy, the Consulate and wider US Network provide a strategic platform for British excellence and visibility in the lead up to, and during, the Games.
The Chief of Staff, LA 2028 will support this work by acting as the focal point for coordination across the Consulate’s LA 2028 activity. Initially reporting to the Consul General while the wider team leadership structure is developed, the role will help bring together a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure coherent planning, effective governance, and successful delivery of UK objectives related to the Games.
The postholder will work closely with Team GB and ParalympicsGB, UK Government departments, and civil society and private sector partners, while also developing strong relationships with city, state and federal counterparts in Los Angeles responsible for LA 2028 delivery.
The role operates in a dynamic, evolving environment and supports delivery across public diplomacy, logistics, security, visits and events. It also contributes to wider UK soft power objectives. The post offers significant exposure to cross government coordination, large scale event planning, and international engagement.
The US Network offers a unique, career-enhancing opportunity and is committed to supporting its staff through a comprehensive benefits package- including generous leave, competitive insurance options, a top-tier 401(k) programme, and access to world-class learning and development resources.
We are committed to fostering a healthy work-life balance and supporting employee wellbeing through a structured hybrid working model that includes opportunities for remote work and flexible hours, where operational needs allow.
In this role, you will be part of a dynamic international environment spanning the British Government’s extensive network across the United States and the United Kingdom, which includes the Embassy in Washington, the UK Mission to the United Nations, multiple Consulates, and other Government Offices—comprising over 900 staff and supporting the work of approximately 30 UK government departments and agencies.
